Global Missions
Church of the Atonement has a long history of involvement in world missions!
We believe fulfilling the Great Commission is not just for a small number of professional missionaries and pastors, but for all who follow Christ. Our part is to send, to go, and to support the mission of making the gospel known, each member working in concert according to his or her gifts and calling.
Numerous men and women from Atonement have been called by God to vocational cross-cultural missionary service. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with them as they respond to God’s call. Currently Atonement sponsors missionaries on five continents where efforts are directed toward Bible translation, church planting, theological education, and rural and urban evangelism. In addition, our efforts are directed toward having 100% of the congregation praying for our missions and our missionaries. We invite members to pray for missionary families at the 8:30 Sunday morning Vigilant prayer meeting.
As part of our efforts to encourage our people to open themselves to God’s call, Atonement sponsors several Short Term Mission Trips each year. Recent trips have taken young people and adults to Wales, Turkey, Togo, Mexico, and Russia, as well as to the inner city of Washington DC, rural West Virginia, and Florida.
Our current objectives include :
Our missions passion includes missionary care. Through frequent email, periodic phone calls, and regular visits to the field, we are committed to love and sustain our missionaries. Please feel free to join us in your prayers and encouragement to our missionaries.
