Jim Rohrer Assimilation Coordinator
After retiring from the banking industry where I worked for 36 years, I became Assimilation Coordinator in January 2017. My wife, Lynn, and I first visited Church of the Atonement in July 1998 after deciding we needed to find a church closer to home. After our first visit, we realized there was no need to search anywhere else and we’ve called Atonement “home” ever since. We were attracted by the friendly welcome, biblical teaching, and beautiful worship music. Over the years, I’ve served in roles as deacon, deacon chair, trustee, and Boys Brigade leader. Lynn and I brought up our two children, Nathan and Julia, in the church where they benefited from devoted nursery workers and Sunday School teachers. Both children are currently in college and Lynn is a fourth grade teacher at Forcey Christian School.
I grew up in Salisbury, MD but have lived on the “Western Shore” since graduating from University of Maryland, College Park, with a degree in business/marketing. I enjoy the outdoors, and particularly like running, cycling, gardening and an occasional ski outing (water & snow).
In my role as Assimilation Coordinator, my endeavor is to replicate the warm welcome I first received 20 years ago to our visitors and newcomers. I enjoy connecting with people and helping them identify opportunities to experience community within our church.
