Gateway to Membership at Church of the Atonement
At Church of the Atonement, we believe that membership is a spiritually significant step in the life of the Christian. Consider, what does it mean to join a church? –To publicly commit oneself to be part of a local body of believers. Many Christians confess they are part of the Body of Christ by virtue of their believing in Jesus. Confessions of belief include the commitment to live out our beliefs. That’s where publicly identifying with a church comes in and living as a member of that body of believers.
Most people who become members of Atonement did not arrive as members of another church. The idea is new to many. No one is rushed to make a decision. We all need growing room.
Once or twice a year, we offer our Gateway Sunday school class, a 7-week orientation to the church and to membership that helps prepare people to that step. In Gateway, you will learn in community with others.
