Atonement Youth Ministries
The Atonement Youth Ministry’s mission is to meet students where they are spiritually, and walk alongside them in the direction of reaching mature, joyful faith in Jesus Christ. Students are best served for the long term when their walk with Christ includes integration into the body of Christ, as part of the whole the church. Because of this, we encourage and disciple our students to be involved in the life of the entire church (worship, service, fellowship, evangelism, and discipleship), by ensuring specific opportunities for them within those ministries. In addition, we generate activities and learning settings that are geared specifically for youth.
Atonement Youth Ministries (AYM) consists of Middle School and High School aged students. The programming is distinct for the needs at each level. Some of the elements you’ll find in place at Atonement are:
Mentoring: Dedicated volunteers as well as our staff leaders engage students one-on-one, both through the web and personal contact.
Events: Monthly events are planned for fun, fellowship and outreach. Some integrate both MS and HS students. Others are designed as ALL PLAY events, and include the rest of the congregation.
Service: Opportunities are regularly scheduled and age-integrated, encouraging “shoulder -to-shoulder” cooperation.
Summer Youth Ministries: When the youth are out of school for the summer, we beef up our youth ministry with paid interns and take advantage of the kids’ extra time for comprehensive ministry and positive, healthy activities. We always welcome visitors. Our hope is that visiting students will feel like one of us. We hope that newcomers will walk away from their Atonement experience feeling informed, refreshed, and excited to have found a place where they feel welcomed, free to be themselves, can ask questions, and grow.
Parents: We understand that parents are the real youth ministers. Parents are their child’s teachers, mentors, correctors, and life-long advocates. This is huge. AYM desires to support and help equip parents in their quest to “bring up a child in the way he should go, so that when he gets old he will not depart from it.” We encourage parental involvement and provide opportunities for parents to come alongside their children during their growing years in Atonement Youth Ministries.
